fan rotation?
Does all Prevost gear boxes turn CW viewed from like you were sitting on box? Does the leading edge of fan lead toward the radiator? The reason for the ?? is that I started without a gear box or fan blade. I find myself with the fan blowing out.. could be I have the wrong blade!! For those that know history of my bus there was nothing in the drive train from rear wheels back. Just need so assurance before ordering a 30 inch CW sucker fan blade. Bob
PS. the gearbox and fan came out of a 91Prevost..was what I was told.

If I am standing outside of my coach on the driver’s side, looking at the radiator, the fan behind it is turning clockwise.
It is drawing outside air through the radiator.

I have a 91 xl and the fan turns CCW if you are sitting on the gear box or CW looking from outside. It Pulls air across the engine, so left side of blades are closes to the radiator.

Now my head hurts.. Went up and checked after reading replys: My set up is CW sitting on fan box–going to think on this awhile.. blade goes 1 oclock-3 oclock etc. Rite now have fan blowing out thru rad.. I can get a CW sucker fan.. Does it make sense it should suck thru the CAC instead of blowing thru it? Just surprised the box is reversed . Box came with all drives and mounts in tact.. No way to mis-install. Smile on my face as I will take this as any other brain fart. Good thing is the wheels on the bus turn the correct way when in drive…Now I need to reread the responses to confirm my interp of facks:: === re read . yep it’s differant.. 2000yr 60 serries with eaton 10 spd autoshift.. Guess it could have been worse and I had 10 speeds in reverse…. Bob

I think you told me you have the old style fan drive set up, where the driven pulley is mounted on a shaft and that shaft goes back to the gearbox and then the fan mounts directly to the gearbox. The newer style drive system has the driven pulley mounted to the gearbox then a belt connects the gearbox to the fan. On the newer style the gearbox can be mounted upside down and if you do that the fan will turn backwards from the way it should. Is it possible to mount your style gearbox upside down?

However you do it, the fan has to draw air in toward the engine from outside the radiator. I have never had a coach that blew air across the radiator from the engine side.

CW fan is only $207 new. Is the least expensive of solutions. Before getting it I will ck to see if box is able to be rotated. Still new siding to be installed and several other details to finish. –Guess what I’m saying is I have a little time to make the best decision. Nice to have a runnin coach even if fan is going wrong way..A little embarased about this–It was a definite surprise! It will be correct before maiden voyage.. Bob

Simple fix; just remove driven gear on shaft flip it-now fan shaft rotates oposite direction.. drive gear is centered -just have to adjust backlash… ended up being to darn simple.. The upside I ended up learning allot about fan tip speeds and flow that maybe I will use this once..change took about 1 hr plus new oil seals… Bob
