Fan on Cruise Air won’t turn off
Our Cruise-Air equipped Liberty coach is plugged into 50amp shore power. I have the two center Cruise-Airs set to A/C @ 80 degrees. Its been cool the last couple of days. Going by the coach yesterday I notice a fan in the front of the coach was running. I thought, “Huh, its cool out, shouldn’t be running.” Went inside and it was 62 degrees in the coach. I thought, maybe its set to take humidity out of the coach and will turn off after a while.
It ran all day yesterday. I turned the Cruise-Air off at the panel and the fan kept running (the fan running isn’t the inverter fans, different location and not as loud). The only way I could get the fan to stop was to turn the breaker for the Cruise-Air off.
Any ideas of what is going on? Is the fan on a relay that might have stuck in the closed position (energizing the fan)?

If
you have SMX controls and the fans are set to Continuous, they never
shut off in A/C mode. I keep mine on Intermittent, just like your
home A/C, the fans shut off when reaching temperature.

I checked out that video. Another good one.
I will go through those gyrations to see if I can get the fan to stop. Does that sequence of buttom pushing switch both fans (on the inside on the evaporator and the one under the front of the coach on the condensor) from intermittant to continuous?

From what you have described, I suspect the thermal disc t-stat in the condensor unit is defective. It is supposed to keep the condensor fan on until the temperature in the condensor cools down, then shut off. Most commonly we see this blow apart and prevent the condensor fan from operating at all in any mode, but sounds like you got the “nicer” failure mode which keeps it on all the time. For the meantime, if that is what the problem IS, try turning off the 120v circuit breaker to that cruisair and see if the fan does, in fact, go off then.
You need to open the unit’s top cover to bypass or replace this thermal disc. I would suggest just bypass it to operate only when cruisair compressor is running and cap the constant hot feed wire.
