  • Exhaust valve adjuster New style

Posted by George on October 27, 2020 at 10:32 am

Used search for exhaust valve adjuster to no avail.

Someone posted that the shop recommended the new exhaust valve adjuster.

Is there not a new one for intake as well.

Anyone able to find the post please post link.

I searched valve adjuster, exhaust valve , and numerous variations of the word to no avail.

I think you may be referring to the Detroit Series 60 “Unitized Valve Adjusting Screw assembly”. The early Series 60 engines had a valve adjusting screw assembly that used a wire type clip to hold on the cap. This wire clip would sometimes fail, separate from the cap, and fall into the area under the valve cover. This was later replaced with the ‘new” style “Unitized Valve Adjusting Screw assembly” with a more positive retention method.

12 for the intake valves. 12 for the exhaust valves. 6 for the injectors.

Just my best guess. Sorry if I got it wrong. You may need to do some more internet searching.
