ETLC (East Tennessee Luxury Coach)
Since I have tried to do almost 100% of my own work I rarely had an opportunity to experience repairs to our coach by others. Recently we experienced an unexplained electrical shut down that disabled the entire house, including inverters which meant no house battery charging. It was a serious issue.
We shortened our trip to head home to see if I could determine what was going on. When I got home I did all of the basic system checks and reboots with zero success. I put the coach to sleep and contacted Jeff at ETLC.
Jeff’s electronic guru Andrew started to run a series of checks, more detailed than those that I did, and at the end of the day we had two surprises. The first was everything had started working as intended. The second was Andrew had no clue why stuff started working because he did nothing but a series of checks.
After a week or so the house electronics failed again, not to the original extent, but to the point where inverters were alive and charging batteries, but no other house functions worked. Again Andrew and his associate gave the coach an in depth exam that would make a proctologist proud. The evaluation got into board level checks and an evaluation of the functions of the digital systems. Again, without knowing why stuff was working again. But this time it was decided every single device or board or component that could be possible for the issues was determined to be replaced.
Yesterday the final repair was done. I won’t go into detail, but replacing stuff was time consuming and required software downloads, but after completing the work everything was checked and all checked out.
My point is as newer coaches contain more and more proprietary electronic control systems glitches while rare, require skilled and qualified technicians. ETLC has them. They are not only skilled on Liberty Coach systems such as mine, but are capable of repairs to other conversions such as Marathon. Not only that, they can improve systems as needed. After noting the efforts required to isolate potential problems on my coach, and the skills required to verify what systems are functioning properly it is apparent if you have a more recent coach make sure you get needed repairs done by qualified people like those at ETLC.
For the most part our complex systems are reliable, but there are so many interfaces between systems it requires technicians capable of getting to the root cause without replacing the wrong components or damaging the systems. Yep, Jeff is the man when it comes to keeping our coaches on the road. He has worked on every coach I have had to date (5) and was a very big help on my two Liberty coaches with everything from Crestron processor updates to making changes to the programming to make it easier/more intuitive to use some functions. I also have had him do chassis work, norgren valves, electric cords and satellite tv and much more.
