Are you talking about valve adjustments which are an expected occasional need, or are you talking about trying to increase HP?

I have heard about an after market tuner from prevost to increase horse power and fuel consumption.

I’m pretty sure you are going to pay for the HP you use.

I don’t have personal experience yet, but based on those I trust and respect the only place I’d go to is Performance Diesel Inc. in St. George, UT. Generally speaking the tune alone will get you more power, about .5-.75 increase in mileage and cooler operating temps. They’ve also got an exhaust manifold upgrade.
Planning to get their tuner for an upcoming purchase in a month or two myself.
For the tuner you don’t need to go there, you can connect it yourself. Just went back and noticed they are in your back yard. Stop in and see them. They’ve also got a Dyno in the shop so there is no “I think it feels like I have more power”.

thank you for the response! Had an ISL Cummins that they ( PdI )did a tune on, just wanted a little better MPG. $1500 latter and a cooling problem and less MPG. When back a couple of times and was told not to come back.

Man Larry, that is a bummer. I learned something new on this issue for sure. Seems crazy to me that they would not have just took your tuner back as it’s not like they were out any labor, etc. like if they spent a bunch of time putting on an exhaust manifold and then needing to remove it.
Guarantee your post just cost them more than $1500 though. And that you are literally in their back yard to boot!

PDI has been around a long time. They are known for adding turbos and making big power on truck engines. Many cattle trucks and chicken trucks out west have used them.
They also have a box like Bully Dog and others that flashes the motor. if you have a warranty you must set it back before getting any work done because the engine serial number is changed which the computer will see. I prefer expanding pulse width.
A couple years ago a so called friend with a motorhome wanted to get his x15 cummins running and I sent him to PDI. The box became very popular after he posted a video on line as the only place to go for power. Now there’s a bunch of motorhomes out there running with a flashed motor.

Everybody would like more HP. Everybody wants better fuel mileage. Depending on the model year a simple owner installed EGR delete is available called “Ugly Fix”. For coaches that have default settings that disable the EGR above 11,000 feet in altitude the “Ugly Fix” will not allow the EGR to function.
The EGR disable will likely add about .5 MPG. Additionally it will not cause exhaust gases from being returned to the engine intake. That anecdotally may prevent premature engine repairs. No proof of that, but that is an often mentioned side benefit.
Disabling the EGR does not increase power.
If power is increased there is a risk. Our cooling systems are designed to reject heat based on the HP of the engine. I can run the longest, steepest hill on the hottest day and not ever risk overheating. But if my HP was increased I risk generating more heat due to the increased HP and my cooling system might not be sufficient to reject that heat, resulting in DDEC pulling back on power to prevent over heating.
If HP will be increased have a plan on how to make the cooling system more efficient so the added HO does not cause 9over heating.

on the ISL engine PDI hook up there laptop computer and played. Yes more horse power and a lot of heat, no better fuel consumption.
Also EPA had a huge fine on them for there modification, do not know how that with down.
