Unlucky for me I met a MR Mark first!! and Got a immediate bad taste for anyone driving one.

    This
thread is starting to get just a tad nasty and we’re not going to let
this turn into a blue collar vs the more fortunate crowd slug fest.
This site was developed for ALL Prevost owners and enthusiasts
regardless of the their background or check book balance.

    Treat your
fellow PC members with respect and courtesy. Jon and I have never
censored any posts other than a couple that got by us selling crap,
but we will not allow personal attacks to individuals or groups.

Hisham, you said I was trolling so that’s why I mentioned financial statements (I know we’re all joking about that). I have to say that I was surprised that the salesperson didn’t know exactly how everything on the dash should work (Transmission economy button, engine brake and air seat). And, I didn’t think I was dogging him, just pointing out my disappointment in the lack of knowledge. A Prevost salesman should know how all the basics work.

Bob, of course I would stop and help you if you were broken down on the road. I don’t have the ablility to fix things so I admire that you can do that.

I certainly didn’t mean to come across that way of being ‘upiddy’ if that’s what you want to call it. If any you ever were to meet us, you would never know one way or the other what we could buy. When talking about building a new Prevost automatically sets a certain tone because we know they are not cheap. Even the used ones are not cheap.

Not that it matters, but I read about motorhomes for 7 yrs. because I wasn’t ready for the lifestyle yet. When the time came, it was about 6 months of indepth research to decide which manufacturer to go with. It took 3 months to build it and we waited an additional month to take a factory delivery (900 miles to Coburg from Palm Springs).

    Everybody have a good day.

    MM.

I’d like to add what we all probably have all realized. Forums make it very difficult to know a persons meaning or intent from posts.

I understand that we have among our members those who just have an interest in Prevost coaches, those who are planning to buy one, those who do not plan to ever do their own work, those who think nothing of swapping engines, those who have had multiple Prevost coaches, and those who have their first and are trying to learn.

Our group’s diversity is what makes this forum and others like it succeed. I know Bob and what he posted doesn’t sound like the Bob I know so I attribute how his post sounds to the difficulty we all have in conveying our thoughts. I have not yet met MM, but I suspect he is a great guy that wants to know every detail before he orders his new coach and he is not afraid to ask questions to learn. Both guys have made a big contribution to this forum and have clearly made us all think.

I’ll echo Tom’s concerns about personal attacks because they have no place here. We want the newest member to be able to ask questions and make comments as comfortably as the most experienced owner feels doing the same thing.

No matter who we are, what our background, we have one thing in common and that is an enthusiasm for Prevost coaches. Further, as a group we also earned our coaches the hard way, by working for them. Let’s all try to follow one simple rule: Be nice.

I have to say that this is the damndest thread I have ever followed. The topic? Engine Size Upgrade? How many of them have something (anything) to do with Engine Size Upgrade?

The cool part is that it’s just fun reading for us poor folks just trying to get by with the coach of our choice!

Sometimes threads will morph into several subjects as they grow. I’ve seen it happen on other sites too.

All and all, this thread has been and is about the power of a Prevost. Driving one was very pleasant and the smoothness and power is/was acceptable.

I re-read this whole thread again and realize that each and every one of you that have a Prevost, whether you bought it new or used, it was sold to someone as new from the start. I’m surprised more of those who bought NEW didn’t chime in.

I was criticized for talking about spending money on a new one but apparently, many others bought the new coaches that you guys are driving now (used).

I will have some new news for you guys this weekend.

    Safe travels,

ON EDIT to Bill (My Prevost), did the part that was sent to you help your power issue?

No. I talked about this in another topic (Chinesse Batteries, I believe). Still no love from Prevost, Detriot Diesel or Country Coach…..Just hung out here to dry!

mark, they just pulled in a brand new Liberty Caoch into MCC. You should come see this one and take it for a test drive and compare it to the Maraathon that you took for a test drive. There are three new show busses here at Motortorcoach Country Club looking for new owners!!! Tell me again are ya looking for an H or an XL3 ?? As you know these guys don’t want to drive them home. Good Luck

Sid, yes, I saw on the Liberty Coach’s website that they are showing on the west coast at MCC. And, I would only want the H-3 as the new X3 will only be a two slide unit (extended chassis will not support 4 slides).

I’m not sure driving comparisons will be very valuable because they all share the chassis. But you do get a gut feel for a conversion the minute you enter a coach. After a while just as you come up the steps you know if the coach is for you.

We had never seen a Prevost or any RV of any type before we looked at our first. After we looked at it we looked at several others, but we liked the first one we looked at better so we bought it.

It took us about 20 minutes to decide to buy the second and third. We just knew they were for us.

Sid, I toured the new Liberty Coach today as I made an appt. on Wednesday with the guy in Florida before he arrived in California.

All I can say is WOW. The differences between the converters is amazing (good and bad on both sides… but, mainly just different).

Liberty Coach uses a retarder vs. a jake brake. They have a lever on the right side column to control it. Most of the buttons are in a different place compared to Marathon (just differernt). The Liberty Coach has a fully electric driver’s seat which was wonderful.

The owner of Liberty Coach was there so I got a flood of technical information of how and why things are done and the choices made. A four slide will have 3 lithium batteries vs. a two/three slide will have 2.

They want me to drive it next week to see the difference in balance of other Prevost coaches. Since I’ve only driven one other Prevost, I’m not sure if I will be able to tell. A fully loaded four slide coach (wet) will weigh about 53,000-54,000 lbs.

This particular coach had a shower and sink at the rear and a half bath in the middle. No problem putting a full bath in the back on a 4 slide unit.

Now, I know John is going to jump all over this but the sales guy said he wouldn’t have a coach without OTR. Now I know the difference between OTR and Cruise Air. This coach had OTR, 2 roof and 2 Cruise airs.

We only went over the inside today. The fire hose that Jon was talking about was on full blast! LOL!

    I’m impressed.

The discussion about OTR raises its ugly head from time to time.

The bottom line is if you have never experienced it you will never miss it. And sure to get Gil wound up is the fact what other converters call their OTR cannot compare to the 109,000 BTU system Prevost installs.

But if you have never had it you won’t miss it. Did I just say that again?????

But to get OTR you have to have 2 slides, not 4.

We’ve been reading through 148 posts for this day.

Mark has had a life changing experience … a tour of a Liberty Prevost with Frank.

He is a changed man from this day forward.
