Engine compartment access in rear of interior
Anyone removed the access to the engine in a 2006 XLII? Any tips or gotchas?
Wanting to get valve adjustment.

In anticipation of a future or eventual need I had ETLC modify the Prevost engine cover so with 4 screws the top of the engine was exposed and there was no impediments to removing the valve cover.
Quite a bit of the cabinetry on and around the Prevost cover had to be removed to allow the needed work to be done. The bottom line however is that when I did need access to remove the valve cover and service the engine I had the needed access in 3 minutes.
I had repair work done by Prevost in Nashville and they were unaware how easy access was going to be. Normally their practice was to send the coach to a Nashville converter of entertainer coaches to disassemble the interior to the extent necessary, do the needed work, and then return the coach to the converter for reassembly.
I assured them that would not be necessary, and within minutes after pulling into the Prevost shop I had the cover off and what would have been a couple of days of work ended up being done in 3 hours.
Converters who build interior cabinetry over the top of the Prevost access panel should be spanked, and owners who do not anticipate the need and fail to make the modification I had done are exposing themselves to more costs than the cost of the needed modification.

Don, every coach or conversion is different. On my first coach removal of the engine cover was as simple as raising the bed, and there it was.
With rear closets and cabinetry built on top of the cover after carpeting was in place can make engine cover access a day long job that involves in some cases cutting the carpet.
A side to side bed with a rear closet is the recipe for potential issues to gain access.

I have been stressing about accessing the valve train for adjustment.
Started opening the bedroom closet steps and got a pleasant suprise.

Blue line is bolt for factory panel. Thought was going to have to dissemble walls to access valve cover but Royale did a great big upgrade.
