I ran from Naples to the Keys yesterday…a few hundred miles. Coach ran great, hit bumper to bumper traffic in the keys. Pulled in the campground and she seemed to smoke at idle (white smoke) and it went away when accelerating. When I got into my spot the CEL light came on, I pulled the code and it was “PID 411 ….out of calibration)….active”. It appears that its an EGR problem, and because its active, it needs to go to a DD dealer to be reset. I’ll get that done when we get back to Naples, I was just wondering if anyone had anymore info or experience with that code..In addition all vital signs were excellent while driving, she ran cool. Oil Pressure perfect. I had Prevost install a new CAC before we left from NJ 2 months ago. From what I can see, its OK to run back to Naples but needs to be corrected before we head back to NJ. Any input or info would be helpful.

That code according to the DD manual is EGR delta pressure high.

Apparently the DDEC is measuring pressure differential in the EGR system. I don’t know what specifically it is measuring (maybe the exhaust press at the EGR inlet) to the intake manifold after the exhaust has passed through the valve, the intercooler, and finally the intake.

I know there is a sensor after the intercooler, but I don’t know if there might be more. It could be a sensor problem, a problem with the EGR valve or a blockage in the flow path.

Here is a link to a Freightliner description of the issue and trouble shooting steps. Hope this helps.

One of the common causes for this code is an intermittent VPOD. The computer asks for EGR and the VPOD does not respond. The VPOD (variable pressure control device) controls the EGR and there is a second one for the turbo.
