We had TRC SurgeGuard unit that combined power protection in the same box with an automatic transfer switch. A very neat solution, especially with space limitations. It failed to work properly while at a rally in late September. It was less than two years old and had not had a lot of use. We double checked the power at the pole with test equipment and verified correct continuity of the wiring all the way to device. We had to internally jumper the device to get power to the coach (with no protection, of course). The warranty on the unit was one year. I called TRC to see if I could send it in to be serviced and what that would cost. THERE IS NO FACTORY SERVICE AVAILABLE on TRC products. I bought a Progressive Industries EMS unit and a Lyght Power Systems (ESCO) ATS to replace the SurgeGuard. I will be installing these over the holidays. No more TRC for me. I will post an update, with pictures if possible, after the work is done.

Over the years in other Prevost or conversion forums there has tended to be a lot of threads and posts about problems with circuit protection. There has been less discussions about issues with transfer switches, suggesting to me that the best solution might be to use a good reliable transfer switch built in, but to use an external circuit protector that the power cord plugs into and the protector plugs into the shore power.
I have had this protector (SSP50) from Progressive Industries for years and it has worked very well, and my transfer switch has never even so much as burped. I suspect as functions get combined the chance of problems rises. My only issue with the SSP50 is the lights which confirm the correct polarity and good ground are very difficult to see in daylight.

Ditto on the SSP50, I have it for about 4 years and never a burp.

Off topic, but the original post font size is tiny. Perhaps there is a minimum you guys can set for the forums?

Karl, I jumped up a size.
This is the next size
And the next.
I went from 12 (this size) to 14, 16 and 18.
We can get the default size reset if we can get a concensus on what is preferred.

I vote for 16px, but until we get it set at a specific default size anybody posting can change size or type style.

16 is good for me. 14 is still pushing it.

Perhaps a way to allow the individual to select Font size say in the profile area. I see that a choice is allowed in the Reply

Make that another vote for the SSP50. Been 3 years and still out there working right now.
