Easy start/Soft start for Dometic roof AC
Has anyone installed an Easy start for their roof AC?
It eliminates the hard start capacitor and the initial heavy amp surge at start up. It’s made by Microair.net. I could see this being an advantage for the event that you can only find campground with 30 amp or even running two AC’s off of Magnum inverters in an emergency (we had our genie go out in the middle of the summer and needed AC to get to Jeff’s for repair). We still have Trace inverters but know at some point they will need replacing and I’m looking at options and planning ahead.

Have them on my roof A/Cs. No hard hum on start. Measured 2 amps on start vs 40 amps with clamp on amp meter. The compressor amps slowly ramp up to 12 or 13.
I understand the clamp on can not measure the true initial surge amp due to the high spike is to short for the sample time of the clamp on meter. So the 70 amp on start may be there but I do not have the equipment to measure it.
I like them and would move them to new A/Cs if I need to replace the Attwoods I have now. Furrion is marketing an A/C that includes soft start.
My Attwoods are non-ducted with the thermostat in the ceiling unit. No wall thermostat adapting needed – KISS. Lots of cold air.

I would think that the device could be used on most any 120V, 20 amp air conditioner, not just roof airs.

How does that work? The DometicAC’s have a large capacitor that is a combo, for compressor and fan, does that do both? 2 different #s 50 & 15
