Drive Tires
I had my drive tires replaced yesterday. I went to Big D in Irving Tx at the recommendation of the service manager where I store my coach as Big D participates in the michelin program. This was my second appointment. I made another a week ago and called twice to confirm before showing up and taking a day off of work. Two hours after arriving I was finally told that the only person that was able to do the work was not there. Yesterday when I arrived and their bus expert was there along with the owner he asked me if I could use my jacks to raise the coach for him. i told him that the prevost don’t have jacks like conventional rv’s. That was a bad sign. I was told that there would be no weights on the outside of the wheels. When they finished the alcoas were scratched, the center trim bent and scatched. They put the trim screw back in with a vise lock. When I got home I found that the rubber insert that holds the stem was missing, the stem extension was missing and all four valve stem caps were missing. I went back and they found the stem and rubber and two of the caps. I did not get the other two caps. There are also about a pound of weights on the outside and looks like crap. After three hours of this I decided not to take the coach back and installed the stem extension myself. I could not get them to replace the stems with ones that did not require the extensions nor add a missing rubber insert as they tried to tell me that those were bus parts. I really don’t like saying negative things about anyone but feel I should share my experience in case anyone else is considering going to Big D. I don’t think the techs have the knowledge or tools needed to work on the prevost nor do I feel the owner Paul has enough knowledge to be taking in these prevosts. I told all this to the service manager at my facility and his attitude was that he takes prevost there all the time with no issue. I feel I was just dismissed. He seemed more concerned that he did not make anything off the deal. I checked the tires today and all four had lost three pounds of air. I checked all the others to see if they had lost any and they were all still exactly correct so it was only the four drives that lost air. I’ll keep an eye on them to see if they continue to loose air. If they do then I will need to find somewhere to take the bus and get it fixed. I would post the pic of the wheel weights but my browswer does not seem to be compatible with this widget.
