Downsizing
With very mixed emotions and after a full year of deliberation, we’ve decided to sell our bus and go completely to the opposite extreme — a 24ft. Sprinter based class B+. We love the luxury, comfort, safety and space of the bus, but it is too big to get to many of the fishing and backpacking spots that we like to visit. It seems like we are forever staying 40 miles from where we want to be, and driving the toad in. On the other hand, for many travels, the bus simply cannot be beat, and they don’t allow Sprinters at Outdoor Resorts and many of the other resorts we love. We actually thought hard about keeping the bus and also buying a small class B or C, but came to our senses when we realized that owning just one RV is a pretty dumb financial decision, so owning two would be insane.
Including our current bus and our previous Prevost, we have been thoroughly enjoying this lifestyle for nearly 15 years. It’s really hard to give up, even if we will retain elements of it in a much smaller footprint. We’ve also enjoyed being a part of this great community. Until it sells, we are going to enjoy the heck out of our bus and Prevost Community.

Bryan:Before you
jump off the wagon I need to tell you a story of another couple who had a
Prevost and had a VW camper van as a toed. I made the comment that I had never seen a RV being pulled by a RV. The owner explained that they used the
Prevost as a home base and used the VW camper van as a satellite explorer. He mentioned that they liked to attend the
Opera in St. Pete and drove the VW into town and could park it anywhere. They would stay in the VW after the Opera, could change clothes, and
then drive back to base 40 miles North the following day, or extend further if
the mood struck them. He also mentioned
that using the VW camper they could visit almost anywhere and had a potty and
refrigerator with them everywhere they went.After talking to the owners, I thought it was a great idea
and wasn’t so crazy after all. Especially having your own personal potty parked
at the curb, you just have to feed the meter. Hmm, gives a whole new meaning to the term Porta Potty.Good luck on your next adventure.

Thanks, Fred. As I said, we’ve thought about it a lot and looked into that exact idea. I even checked into getting a Remco disconnect so we could pull a Sprinter. (I like VWs but we want a real bathroom). It seemed doable, but as I said, having two RVs is a bit crazy, especially in LA where I pay an arm and leg for garage space.

Bryan, I am going to be sorry when you do sell your coach, but I understand that as our needs change we have to adjust and sometimes the coach does not fit in.
I hope you can continue to contribute because your posts have always been good and very helpful.

We gonna miss you. I still appreciate the time you took to visit with me over the phone and suggesting the stop at Manazar and then I will never forget the ride on Ca 120 thru Yosemite and the exit out the east going down The Tioga Pass. We have hills in east Tenn, but they don’t compare to that one.
That also was the cheapest hour I ever spent with an Attorney! LOL.

Bryan I hope you realize our dues schedule calls for non owners to pay double the rate of bus owners.
We hope you visit the site often even after you sell the bus. You always have good posts.
