DOT Brake Check
As I’m sure Jon & Tom covered in their Seminar, you should absolutely do your DOT Brake check prior to every departure.
Eighteen months ago, Prevost replaced an interlocking valve for my emergency brake since I noticed it wasn’t engaging until 15psi.
During my DOT Brake check while leaving the farm yesterday, I noticed my emergency brake was again not engaging until my F/R brakes hit 5-10psi. Prevost specs call for 40psi.
Lesson: Just because you change out a part, which should last many years, doesn’t mean it won’t fail early. Unfortunately for me, the part was six months out of warranty.
