In a recent post of Don’s he had a picture of his steering bay. I noticed a device that appears to be marked “train horn”. Is it a train whistle or a bonafind “train horn”? Tell is more about it. Where you located it. How its wired and plumbed. How its controlled from the driver’s seat.

Ours is to the right of the steering column it’s a long silver rod with a knob on the end and you just pull it in and out… very loud… but fun too.
Hope yours is in the same place and works… that’s all I know.

Diane: Thanks for the post. I have the same thing. Its a “train whistle”, which I use from time to time. I want to add a “train horn” which is a somewhat different sound. The “train whistle” sounds like something that is steam powered. The “train horns” used by today’s trains while powered by compressed air, has a more distinct sound. If you listened to the Packers/Falcons game from the new Mercedes-Benz stadium in Atlanta, they useda “train horn” a number times during the game.

Dick, I call them train horns and they were on the bus when I bought it. Don’t know who or why? There is a button on the dash that energizes an electric valve in the steer compartment. There is also a ON/OFF ball valve. They are mounted on the roof in the center of the bus. Here’s an old pic of the horns, before I rejuvenated the roof.

From what I’ve seen advertised as bonafide, real train horns … those look like the real deal. I hadn’t thought about putting them on the roof. Was considering putting them in the steer bay pointed out the front of the coach, next to the train whistle.

Liberty’s are on the list Dick, looking in the early XL2 non slide range. Kinda hung up on whether I want to mess with the Rose Petal Dispenser. Is yours manual fill or do you have the drone auto fill that Mr Mark has on his ’16?
