  • Does your Prevost rock?

Posted by Andy on September 22, 2014 at 3:41 pm

And no, I don’t mean like. Led Zep or Bon Jovi! I’m talking about air levelling as opposed to jacks. I read about S&S owners saying they prefer jacks to air as with air-only, the coach moves as they wander around inside.

Are Prevosts basically too heavy for anyone moving around inside to make a difference? I suppose when you get on a seated coach it doesn’t move as you clamber aboard.

No great shakes either way, just curious.

I have only felt mine rock once and that was in a 60 MPH wind when a thunderstorm came through, but moving around in the coach you will think that the coach is rigid.

No movement in ours at all.

    What Jack said.

If you are in the coach and someone enters you can sense there is a very modest movement, but for the most part you are unaware you are not solidly connected to the ground.

However, some coaches that use the HWH or a full time auto-leveling system will work overtime in strong winds and even to an extent as people move about inside the coach. Our first coach would continually level itself if we had the switch in the auto position. It was easily affected by strong winds such that we were going to run out of air or burn up the aux compressor because the system was constantly trying to respond as the wind pushed the coach. The winds got as high as 70 however, but even much slower winds will affect the coach. Generally if we can do it we lower the coach all the way down because entry is easier, and when we do that the coach weight is solidly resting on the inner air bag “bumpers”.

Sorry for the ignorance, but I have only owned 2 MH’s with landing gear. How does the Prevost auto level work when you are setup for extended stay. Does it remain fully aired up to ride level or is the air dumped, then auto leveled for a lower stance?

    Tom,

I can only speak to what we have on our marathon. It’s not auto leveling… when I park… I level the coach to my liking with the level low system and it pretty much stays put until I start the coach and head out again. It’s worked great for us.

Liberty does have auto leveling but I find that I usually level manually,I can adjust the front height to what suites me.

I have HWH, but I do not use auto setting, I manually level if needed, then turn it off. It will stay there for days. My suspension is leak free………wish I could say that for my Aux air system.

Very solid, no movement noticed, but like Jon said, if someone goes in or out the entrance door, a very slight movement can be noticed if you are paying attention. Just normal walking around doesn’t create any movement.
