  • Does anyone live around Plano TX

Posted by Ron on August 4, 2017 at 8:29 am

Does anyone know about this company? Starlight Motors Mr Oliver’s RVs. There is a Featherlight posted there that looks very interesting to me that is in my budget. Is there any known problems with Featherlites that I should be aware of and ask about? Thanks

I live over in Fort Worth which is about an hour from there. What is the coach? I am not familiar with Mr. Olivers but have seen them put coaches on Craigslist.

I could run up there and take a look at something if it helps you out.

Paul Davis owns Mr. Olivers. He has been in business in Princeton, Tx, just east of McKinney for years. He is retired and Terri Roberts is doing the selling.

When in Princeton, they sold a lot of older Prevosts and other coaches. Have no recent history on Terri.

mrolivers.com is active and shows both Paul and Terri with a link to Starlight.

I looked at a coach there when searching for my first Prevost in the fall of 2015. Almost bought a ’99 Liberty.

Terri had taken over by then, although Paul was there. Seemed like very nice people, despite the fact we couldn’t get the deal done.

I would take the coach to Dallas Prevost for a DMI, at your cost, if you decide to buy.

Ron, if you are looking at the ’01 Featherlite – Vogue they have, it is not on a Prevost chassis.

Foxtrot, you may be right. I wondered the same thing since there are no Prevost logo on the bus. But this is what they are advertising: Prevost M5000 chasis. I am new to this so that is why I am coming to you guys and gals for help. I am wondering why the it is priced like it is.

Thanks for the offer. I will take all the help you are willing to give. As some have shared already they are located in Princeton TX. The bus is a 2001 Featherlite Vogue. I have been away from my computer this morning or I would have responded faster to your offer. They are claiming the bus is on a Prevost chasis but there are no Prevost logo on the bus which makes me wonder.

    Thanks again.

    Hey Ron,

Its a nice looking coach and the reason it doesn’t say Prevost is because it isn’t! I spoke with Wes at Prevost parts and gave him the VIN number. He told me it ain’t a Prevost number!

    Ron,

Once you recognize the look of a Prevost, it will pop out immediately. What jumped out to me was:

-Entrance door too high in the chassis.

-Entrance step (Prevost’s don’t have steps on the outside).

-Seam around the front cap running along the roof-line and along the side at the back (box built on chassis).

    -Windows (not Prevost)

-Prevost driver’s window that opens is too large (slider).

-I’ve never seen rear lights like that on a Prevost.

-No stainless on the lower sides which all XL’s have which could be painted or not (appears to be mimicking an XL).

That might be a nice coach but it’s not a Prevost.

Wishing you luck on your search.

    Ron,

I looked up their site when I posted this morning and saw the only Featherlite they had and saw it wasnt a Prevost. I thought to myself Im not going to be a whole lot of help b/c I wont be familiar with whatever that chassis is.

Anyway, if you do find something around here I would be more than happy to take a peek at it.

    Good luck on your search.

Thank you for your willingness to help. I am glad you have not left. I just got off the phone with the dealership and they could not tell me what the M5000 chasis is. Then I asked if it had the otr ac. It did not. Thanks for the help.

    M and C

Thanks for the comparison. I thought something was off. I also knew the price for a 2001 was way cheap. It did not look like the other Prevost I have been looking at but I have not been looking at Featherlite. Thanks This site and you guys and gals are great.

    Ron,

You won’t find a better coach for the price than Buddy’s 40′ Country Coach even if you have to hock the wife’s wedding rings. (Oops, Sorry Jane, you were not supposed to read that.) Just my opinion as I personally know that coach.
