Docking Lights
I changed out a socket and bulb in Bosch Docking light on a 97 Royale and the new bulb is onlyh burning half as intense. it is a 12 volt bulb in a 12 volt circuit (according to my meter). The bulb I put in was a Wanger BP2470 / H3. It was a hologen. The Bosch fixture has a part number of 563 followed by 507 so maybe one number is the bulb / socket and the other number is for the frame the socket goes into. It seems like I must have the wrong bulb. Any ideas ?

I guess I should clarify that I took the fixture and socket and bulb and the whole thing into NAPA and the guys handed me the intergrated bulp and socket replacment which apperes to be the same but I guess there is always the chance that I got the wrong bulb and socket. Could it be a bad bround or anythng else ?

In fixture did your old one have a small cylindrical unit in positive power supply? I will check tomorrow for technical name. Bob

Does anyone happen to know if NAPA has these little rubber gromets with threads in them that go in the docking lights housing or have one they can put in a stamped enveolpe and shoot me ? NAPA should have them ask for well nuts. You will need to match the thread size so take the screw/bolt with you.

Those little black plugs with an encased nut are also called “Rivnuts.” Do an internet search and you will find them.

Wellnuts are available as well at McMaster, MSCdirect, etc., and will all have them.
Usually for docking lights the machine screw size used is 10-32 (occasionally one may find a 10/28), and usually 1.25″ long to 1.5″ long.
Also, note that there are some Prevost docking lights that were attached with true rivnuts (the all metal kind, versus wellnuts, with rubber surrounds). Pop (and several other manufacturers) make rivnut (aka rivet nut, like saying “tissue” versus “Kleenex”).
While one can also find the tools at places like Harbor Freight, the low, low price is for a reason ($18 vs. $60-90). I learned the hard way, and had to return two of them to HF before purchasing a Pop-brand tool. What a difference!

Peter are they “plug an play”? Any special things nneded to convert our older ones to these?

Plug and play just make sure you turn them on before you button it all up u might have to switch wires from one post to the other I did then they work

I look at these as well but the guy at Prevost Ft Worth said they would not fit my model XL. He said they fit the XLII’s and H’s, but not the older ones. But after a little research on the Internet for a H3 light you can find LED’S for the 99 model.
