  • Do It yourself oil changes?

Posted by Charles on August 4, 2013 at 2:16 pm

In my 2001 H3-45 Marathon, the Kohler/Yanmar generator is on a slide that comes about halfway out of the bay. I’d like to get the slide further out so as to be able to drail the oil, clean out the bay (kind of nasty). Also trying to figure out where the hours meter for the generator is located. Any ideas? I figure if nothing else, I can change filters and oil.

The hour meter may be on the generator,an ajoining bay or inside the coach in the dash area. If you want to clean the pan under the generator, try lifting the opposite side of the coach so it is tilted and steam clean the area. At least by doing it that way the water will drain right off. Rick

There are varying degrees of owner perfomed maintenance on our coaches. Some folks (me included) do all our own maintenance and repairs, others do some, some do none themselves. It all depends on your particular situation. Over the years I have found almost all the work on our coaches to be generally very easy once I know the steps others have taken. Sometimes there are little tricks that may not be obvious.

If you add the model year, type coach and converter to the signature line then that specific information will be available for folks that respond to all your posts.
