Dishwasher
All,
A dishwasher is an important feature that my wife wants in our next coach. In the past week I have called three dealers/individuals about their Featherlite’s/Vantare’s that are listed for sale and none of these Prevosts have dishwasher. This search included both XLII and H3-45. I asked one person about the lack of a dishwasher and was told they were an special order item. I find that interesting because other brands seem to install dishwashers routinely. Any thoughts on the lack of dishwashers in Featherlites?

Are dishwashers 220v ? If so, Vantare had an aversion to 220 circuits in their conversions.

We had a dishwasher installed when our current coach was built. Pretty sure it was 110. Many coaches built at that time had them. We used it twice in the first 3 years. It became a box to store things in. We removed it and replaced it with a large drawer. Have not missed it and really enjoy the extra storage.

We have one, but the only time we used one other than when inspecting the coach, we found it made the paper plates too soggy so we quit using it.

I love our dishwasher, and use it just about every day, often twice a day. We both enjoy cooking and I bake a lot, so it’s a huge convenience.

I’m with Cathy, we use our dishwasher almost every day that we are in the bus and connected to sewer. Love it and would not be without it!

We dry camp a lot (about 50%) and usually entertain once a week when we are out. The only thing disposable allowed are napkins…
We found that our Fisher-Paykel dish drawer uses approximately 2 gallons of water on a normal cycle. If we wait until fully loaded before running it, the water use is less or the same as if I try to wash dishes by hand. Now, I’m very good at minimizing water useage and have developed many “tricks” to both limit fresh water use and grey water collection.
I don’t hand wash dishes at home and I don’t hand wash dishes when in our home on the road.
And Yes, the dishwasher is 120 Volt and runs off a 20 amp circuit.

We ordered the new coach with a dishwasher. We have one in our current plastic coach and like it.
We didn’t want a built-in coffee maker so that got cut. We also use a lot of paper plates but we like our cocktails in real glass glasses. So, that’s where the dishwasher is of the utmost importance! LOL!

Put us in the like to have it! We used ours just about daily with the 5 of us eating with “real” plates and utensils for 14 months… the only time we stopped using it was when the water was too hard and all the glassware would come out with a white film…. Need to look into a water softner but hadn’t had the time. Good luck with your search!

Ours has a dishwasher and its never been used.. I use it to store the pots and pans that I don’t use either.. I have a 2 drawer dishwasher at home and run it maybe once every week just to keep it running.
If I was on a long trip it might be different but I don’t cook in the bus… I do take frozen dishes I have made and warm them up sometimes….we do eat sandwiches and breakfast in the bus not not big cooked meals.
I also cook outside the bus in nice weather on a long trip or at the beach.
I don’t use soap on my wine glasses as they say you should never do that so I see NO purpose of puting them in the dishwasher.. I wash my wine glasses in hot clear water and dry them…. so if your wine doesn’t taste just right you might want to ditch using soap to wash the glasses !! Just saying !

I really like the Fisher Pakel dish washers I have them in 2 homes as well as the coach,we use it almost every day when we use the coach.I know that Liberty does not put them in every new coach but they do wire and plumb for the possibility that an owner might want it installed.

We love our Fisher Paykel. I have looked but did not find the water useage in the unit manual. I’m interested in the comment above that it only uses about 2 gallons per cycle. I would have expected a higher volume. Is that correct? Thanks.

Kyle, I don’t know how accurate my tank level indications are but I consistently indicate a 2-3 gallon fresh water use and a corresponding 2 gallon grey water tank increase when running the dishwasher.
Since water useage is very important to dry campers, I tried to check carefully. I have not seen any water useage listing in the manuals but I have not researched that carefully.

We use our Fisher Paykel a lot!! We think it works great, and is fairly quiet also. I wouldn’t want to be without one. When we were at Liberty Coach in April, they told me they were not putting them in unless requested as “most” users did not use it. I guess we are the exception as we use ours almost everytime we use the bus…

I will second that. The dishwasher and the washer/dryer are my best friends and I volunteer to use them multtiple times per week.
