… then you can watch it on your TV. All you need is an Apple TV blackbox (about $950) and then you can use the Airplay function, which allows you to mirror what you see on the iPad on the TV at the same time. It works pretty good.
I have been doing this for some time. As an Amazon Prime subscriber ($99 and will give you 2 day air service at no extra cost), With Prime, I do also qualify for FREE Amazon Instant Videos. As I have mentioned elsewhere, you still pay since the streaming part is not for free.
Another nice benefit with Prime membership is that you get to chose a free Kindle book every month! Amazon gives you 4 book selections to chose from. Not necessarily including a book you would read every month but over time you get to select a few books anyway.
I am a big fan of Amazon Prime. My wife complains that I buy too much.

Diane, you need the Genie! One DVR and a bunch of little boxes for the other TVs.
We are about to redo the electronics in the bus to include two DVRs. The problem with that is that you know the recorded show you want to watch is going to be on the other DVR, but I suspect that running the extra cable is an issue. Also, Liberty has a source to purchase the box, but I’ll bet the Genie can only be rented.
If you call DirecTV and ask for the “retention department” you will be connected to an American who will work their butt off to keep you in the fold. Last year I got new equipment, better pricing, free Sunday Ticket and some additional discounts. This year I only got a few discounts so I am going to do it again in a month or so.

I have the Genie in my house and it’s networked throughout the rest of the house… you can’t have another DVR on the same network as the Genie I am told. I love the Genie !! I told Jon that’s what he needs in his house… you have to have the SWM connections in order for the Genie to work.. don’t know if you can have that in an RV.
We have a DVR on the boat and in both the Prevosts… I would love to add another DVR to the Liberty but not sure that I can without a lot of changes being made so I will wait until I change out the TVs to do that.. I don’t like the Plasma TVs but they are working very well and I am still getting used to “Liberty” things and Crestron… so I am not making any changes to anything in a big hurry.
I bought my Genie on Ebay when they first came out so you can own one…mine was brand new in the box from a Satellite dealer in FLA…. years ago now…. so you can probably still own one. I also own 2 of my DVR’s… the rest of my gear belongs to DTV.
I will ask for the Retention Dept. next time I call… I think we have a pretty good deal now considering all the receivers we have and we take all the channels they offer except for the “adult” ones. I do still have a few older recievers and they wanted me to change them out but they work just fine and I don’t want to “fix” anything that’s not “broke” so to speak !

I decided on two identical DVR receivers so if one poops we have a back up.
Right or wrong, that’s what we will have.

Diane, No on the DVR in the coach. In fact we only have a single receiver in the coach so we only get satellite TV on the front TV. The only time our BR TV has ever been used on any coach was when our grandson would travel with us, he would watch is Barney tapes or CDs in the bedroom while we were driving.

You can only have one Genie per account, but as many other DVR’s as you want to pay for. I have one additional DVR in the house (plus 4 non-DVR receivers), and have two DVR’s in the bus. I just had Jeff install the HD Winegard setup, which is SWM, and also kept my Tracstar for backup, or if we need it when moving. It requires reprograming the reciever(s) to go back to the Tracstar, but it isn’t a big deal. Jeff put in a couple of a/b switches so there is no cable swapping needed.
HD in the bus is now possible and it works very well with the new tv’s. I may have to upgrade the DVR’s as it appears they only go to 1080i, but since most all of Directv’s programming is that or less resolution, it isn’t a priority to me yet. I own the DVR’s in the bus. They are the HR21P models that have extra cooling for rack mounting, which works well.
