I don’t understand why the fuel door on my 8V92 says “Type 1” preferred?
Google tells me #1 has less energy and less viscosity for cold climates.
Searched old posts and didn’t find anything?

Kind of academic. We buy what’s at the pump and the refiners modify the fuel for seasonal changes.

OK, that was my guess – but every day I learn some new little thing I have overlooked on the bus, so wanted to make sure. Thanks. Off to the old “Springworks” who have a pit to adjust my air bags up 1/2″ where they belong.

Back in the day, we had a choice between number 1 and number 2 diesel. Up north in the cold country, we tried to use number 1 in the winter. Also, number 1 was nothing more than home heating oil and had a different blend than number 2.

If you are driving in Idaho or Wyoming, and likely other states in that region, you may well stop at a station that sells #1, #2 and off road at the same pump. As I recall, #1 was 30 cents plus more than #2.

Up north u have a choice #1 or #2 or off road in some parts out east they change fuel to seasons to adjust to the weather diesel will gel at -50 we have trucks that we never shut off for weeks and we tarp the under side and when we shut them off we cover with silk tarp keeps heat in and they will start
