Dehumidifier
Posted by rafael on February 27, 2021 at 10:14 amDo you all run dehumidifiers when in the cold? Just curious I saw a few full timers on YouTube (not in a Prevost bus) saying you needed to run one if not you will get mold.

That seems to me to be like taking an aspirin for a brain tumor.
If the coach is water tight you are not going to get moisture inside that needs removal. If on the other hand the coach has any leaks, regardless of size you have to do whatever is required to remove moisture. From my perspective it would be to eliminate the leaks.
As a related matter, a slide coach that is not in indoor storage has a high potential for leaks, especially if the pneumatic system is not pressurized. Water can get past the seals and I’m not sure a dehumidifier will be able to deal with what has the potential to be a lot of moisture.
This is just my opinion.

If you are living in the coach and you are buttoned up tight for the winter you are going to get a tremendous about of moisture when you cook and shower. It’s likely you will need a dehumidifer to keep the interior dry or you are going to have to use the exhaust vents during those times to get the moisture out.
We are in ND and the first thing the lady at the campground warned was that we were going to need heated water hose and a dehumidifier. Since it was 20 below we chose not to bring the bus not knowing the coaches capabilities in those extreme cold conditions. It has been -30 with 30-50 MPH winds and that’s going to push cold into every crack and crevice. We are happily curled up in a condo, just home sick!
