In 1969 or 1970 when cars still had carbs and they were just beginning to put on emissions devices such as air pumps and crankcase valves a lot of people also suggested they would never buy cars with emissions equipment.

Yet here we are today with the average family sedan capable of blowing the doors off of the fast cars of yesterday getting a gazillion MPG, capable of going hundreds of thousands of miles, and with exhaust cleaner than the air it takes in if you live in Los Angeles.

Our coaches are but a few years into the same scenario and we are dealing with similar types of band aid approaches to our engines that have to comply with standards written by tree huggers who don’t know the business end of a wrench. But if we have folks that are incapable of understanding where to pump DEF and diesel fuel perhaps they need to rethink if they should be driving a diesel. Panther piss otherwise known as DEF goes into the little tank, diesel goes into the big tank. They are marked. They also have available an owner’s manual. I’ll bet someone even did a Utube video to help folks understand where to put the DEF.

We’ll get past this just like we did the cars of the early 70’s that were strangled until the engineers got a handle on things. But until then if anyone wants a new coach they are going to need DEF.

Most every diesel vehicle manufactured after 2010 has to have
DEF. You have no choice other to have an ECM programmer delete that part
of the ECM program. Of course that violates EPA regulations. If your
vehicle is prior to 2010 there is no system on the
vehicle that can hold or use DEF. You couldn’t use DEF prior to 2010 even if you wanted to.

    “Dick,

You don’t have a def engine.

    Tom”

I know. That’s why I don’t have to worry about that stinkin’ DEF stuff!
