Dedicated TV in one of the bays
Posted by Joe on July 26, 2019 at 11:45 amAnother question as I am getting ready to purchase a X3 and would like to hear from you if you have a dedicated TV in one of the bays. Do you use it much or is it just taking up space?
thanks

Personal preference. Depends on how you’re going to use the coach.
We’ve had our 1999 for over five years. Still has the original tube TV. We’ve never seen the need to sit outside and watch TV. Maybe if we had a monster flat screen in the entertainment bay and tried it a few times, we might get hooked.
That said, I wouldn’t buy a new coach or even an expensive pre-owned coach without one.

Outside entertainment is good when you watch a sporting event or other and have people over. Keeps the mess outside instead of in the coach.

I like to watch football and the races. Watching outdoors when the weather is good sometimes collects passer byers and turns in to a great social gathering.
When an outdoor campfire is not allowed, I play a DVR recorded yuletide fire, complete with the crackling sounds. It really gets some strange looks, especially at night. I had one guy drive by three times before he figured it out. 🙂

I know mine works because I turned it on once 5 or 6 years ago. But if we are outside we ain’t watching TV, and if people are gathered around we sure don’t want the TV messing up conversations.
But I know others that live outside their coach during the day and have the outside TV on for entertainment.
Just having an outdoor entertainment center is in my opinion a good thing to impress the Winnebago crowd but of little value. I would rather have the storage space. I will not relinquish my grill or refrigerator however.

I found that we don’t watch the outside TV as much as we thought we would but I’m glad that we have it. We do have a 55″ TV. When we traveled with my two great nieces (age 16 and 16.5), they loved sitting out watching TV.
Sometimes ‘C’ and I like to watch different shows so I will go outside and watch Judge Judy while he watches something else (he’s not a fan, LOL).
Safe travels,

“Sweetie. Isn’t there a game on?”. That’s when I go outside and watch the TV. I can’t cook and like to eat.

We use our TV a lot… and, use the speakers for music a lot too. As for taking up space, that would depend on how it’s installed. Ours uses minimal space.

The TV & radio in my Marathon has a large storage compartment behind it. My DI tanks are in there too. I enjoy watching sports outside when the weather is good. Daytime only in Florida. Bugs come out at dusk and I go in….
