    Wow!

    Series 60 Engines:
-Series 60 engines manufactured prior to 2004 are not recommended to run biodiesel blends higher than 5% provided it meet the specifications listed in this document. (Footnote: Biodiesel is not compatible with certain sealing materials, such as nitrile and butyl rubber, or yellow metals, such as copper,
bronze and brass, or lead, zinc or galvanized iron.)

-Series 60 engines manufactured after 2004 are compatible with biodiesel blends up to
20% provided it meet the specifications listed in this document.

While Detroit can easily stipulate an allowable percentage of biodiesel there is a real world problem. Some pumps state the percentage of biodiesel, but it seems that more and more I am seeing decals that state the fuel may contain up to XX percent of biodiesel. How will we know the percentage? You can bet the person behind the fuel desk will have no clue.

It is also getting more difficult to find non-bio diesel 🙁

Know bio-diesel cannot be good for our gensets or webasto burners either… just like ethanol is not good for our cars, lawn mowers, etc.
