  • Dazzling Detailing

Posted by Robert on January 27, 2015 at 3:06 pm

Last Monday had Dazzling Detailing wash, wax, and polish the stainless on our coach. It started by them showing up over two hours late. The two who worked on the coach (took them two days) did a beautiful job. After they finished the job and had left we discovered that the job was not completed. We called the scheduler, Steve, and he said the polishers would be back on Saturday, between 8-9 am. We sat around all day waiting for them and the never arrived. We called Steve 4 times throughout the day and never heard back from him. Same story on Monday until we decided to try a different cell phone. Surprise! he answered the phone. You should have heard the tap dancing! They were to have come back today, between 9-10 am. It’s 3:30 pm and we are still waiting. He’s not answering the phone! This is the worst mgr I’ve ever seen.

Looks like we will have to find a way to finish the job ourselves. We will never use them again and discourage anyone else from using them either.

Sorry I forgot to mention that. They are mostly out of Central Florida–Tampa to Orlando, and down to the Naples area. I believe they got to Northern Michigan in the summer and Prevost rallies.

This is not the first time I’ve heard the same story. Seems like some locations are pretty good and others suck. Is Dazzling a franchise deal or do they just have a central scheduling and then contract out the work? I’ll dig a little further tomorrow, they’re here at Pelican almost every day.

I know there is 1 crew in the Fort Myers area that is a franchise and not actually part of the dazzling detail that is owned by Paul Newman and I know there have been several issues with that particular crew. My understanding is that Paul owns approximately 27 trucks which are based out of the Fort Myers area. The crew that has always taken care of our bus is led by a guy named Eric. They have always done a fantastic job and they are the crew that spends the summers in Petoskey Michigan. They also are the crew that does several of the Prevost rallies. I would recommend calling Paul Newman at 561 400 8931 and talk to him personally. I have spoken with him a few times myself and feel like his number one priority is to make sure that you are taken care of and are happy.

they have a crew at Tiger Run, Breckenridge, Co. They are there the whole summer and stay busy. They always do my Bus and Toad when we arrive in June. So far they have always done a good job. I haven’t heard any complaints from anyone out there.

Wash my own with no wax. Not a chance with me waxing it.. What did you pay for this service.

    PS,

Washed mine yesterday in this 75 degree weather and gonna be the last time for that. My arms like to have fallen off from the brushing! What ever it costs next time.

I think their regular price for a wash is $100 for the bus or $120 for bus and toad. They use deionized water so there is no spotting.

With one exception I have never had anyone touch my bus. And the one exception was at a rally in which all coaches were done, we were away from the coach when they did it and I failed to make it clear I did not want anyone touching the coach.

First, I will admit it is getting harder to do the coach. Age is a factor, but so is the coach. A non slide forty footer is easier than a non slide 45 footer, which is easier to deal with than a 45 footer with two slides that will bang your head when you try to clean beneath them.

But age cannot be ignored which is one reason I want to do my own coach. I think I am far better off doing the stretching, rubbing, bending, etc. than sitting in a lawn chair watching someone else.

There is another reason I just don’t want anyone touching my coach. It starts with the use of a power washer. Apart from making it easy for some minimum wage employee to blast the surface of my coach clean, it has the potential to drive water into places water is not intended to reach. If the power washer can peel wood off my deck every spring, it can also be driven into seams in the panels, past the gaskets on lights, or beneath the paint.

It is not their coach so their only concern is to get it clean and get out of there. Then I cannot bear to watch them walking all over the roof. I see no effort at all to limit their placement of feet to the ribs. So they walk all over the thin skin on the roof, typically cracking the spray foam insulation, or breaking the bond between the insulation and the skin. Did I mention anything about driving water under pressure into the seals around the roof penetrations?

Then when they get done they apply tire dressing so thick it obliterates the date codes on the tires. Do they understand the tire manufacturers are opposed to the use of tire dressing?

Thanks, but no thanks. I will stick to doing my own coach. Not as easy as it once was, but at least if I am doing it wrong I have no one to blame but myself.

At the risk of being guilty of flattery, I want to say that I agree and live by all that you said, Jon, about stretching, pressure washers, others touching our buses, and doing maintenance ourselves. Amazing when someone does/thinks just like me. (Stretching = laying 30,000 bricks for a driveway, done)
