Thanks to George who offered the opportunity on the Prevost Community flea market we have been in site 177at the Lake Lloyd camping area becoming immersed in all the events leading up to the Daytona 500 on Sunday.

The weather has been great, although Wednesday evening and night was a rainy spell.

If anyone ever had any questions about how Prevost Owners use their coaches it will be apparent they use them to come to races. There are hundreds in the infield alone and countless more in the various other camping areas.

Any other Prevost Community members here????

    Hi Jon,

We are in Lake Lloyd site 22.

This is our first Daytona 500 and our first Nascar race. I can see how people get addicted.

Thanks for the Prevost Community brochure the other day. It looks great.

    Terry,

Did you get your complimentary gift card for Longhorns from Jon? If not, look him up and ask…

Upgrade your I pad so you can make a real post and maybe I will put up some photos. I have to upload them from the computer at home.

    Hi Tom,

No gift card but the $100 bill tucked into the brochure was a nice touch.

Terry is definitely going to fit in here.

Wild finish at the Nationwide race today. The two who created the most buzz, Danica and Trevor both had wrecked cars. Trevor skidded to a stop at the end of the race almost right in front of us. I got some good photos (I think) and will post them when we get home. I think there is a race tomorrow, so we will probably go see that one.

    Rick,

Just check the local tv listings for re-runs of the Lennon Sisters, note the time the show ends and then count to 10 and that’s when Jon goes to sleep. The only exception to that rule, is if there is a back to back showing of the Lennon Sisters and Lawrence Welk, just adjust your time accordingly.

Jon, we had to leave yesterday Sunday, at 6pm. If you are still in the infield, hope you finally get to see the race. We are back in FLL, watching for the television version. Really good to chat again with you and Lady Di. Keep the shiny side up!

We stayed until it was evident the race was not going to happen on Sunday. At 5:00 it was announced it was rescheduled for noon on Monday and since we had Tuesday filled with stuff we would have trouble moving to other times we bailed out at 2:00 AM and got home early afternoon.

We tried watching it on TV last night, but we quickly realized the Sandman wasn’t going to let us stay up as late as it took to finish. Wish we could have stayed,

I took a bunch of photos, but this one of our Knoxville home town guy (Trevor Bayne) was kind of representative of the race weekend.

The entire week revolved around Danica. Unfortunately she managed to crash everything she drove. With the exception of the horrible wreck during Sprint Cup practice she was blameless in the crashes. The photos below are of her Nationwide car before and after her teammate turned her on the 3-4 turn.

The damage doesn’t look as bad as it really was. After a little while in the pits the car was rolled back to the garage for extensive repairs.
