Date/time stamp. Signature block.
Posted by Clay on May 21, 2025 at 8:13 pmThe replies to threads don’t have any date/time stamp. That makes it difficult to read only new replies to a thread, especially threads created years ago…<div>

For some reason I am not seeing that on my Android phone (Duck Duck Go browser). I will check on my PC tomorrow.

Hi Clay – regarding the signature – no, your profile takes the place of what used to be your signature. You can build out your profile with as much or as little information that you want to share with members of this group.

^^^^ note the manual full quote should not be required, but unfortunately is. Otherwise someone perusing this would just see “Hi Clay – regarding signature – no, your profil…”, which doesn’t provide enough context.
Regarding no signature: was this a design decision or software limitation? If design decision I’d argue the signature was really helpful. Example, if someone post a thread with ‘Alternator Issues’, and I’m reading it – the first thing I would do is look in the signature to see if it’s a XL like mine or a 2019 XL3 that has like 5 alternators … if the later I’m not going any further. As is, to figure this out we have to highlight the user name, then click the profile. Likewise, when someone responds, we have to do the same thing.
Feels like decreased functionality.
Also, basic forum functionality offer more formatting capabilities. At a minimum, the ability to highlight in a different color for emphasis other than just bold.
My understanding from prior messaging that the group you guys contracted with to provide the new updated forum was very experienced with forum environments. Gotta be honest, first impressions would not suggest that. Feels like more thought was put into the reworking the classified section than to the actual forum.
I’m not sure what the target was for the new look and feel, but I hope it wasn’t FB.
I loath having to use FB.
