  • Dash vents

    Anyone know how to get to the dash vent motors or valves? Mine seem to be sticking and it’s pushing air to my dash and defrost vents. Thanks for any input on the matter

    You will never stop the air from going thru the defroster vents, just the way the system is set up. I roll up a bath to towel (same color as dash) and lay it over the defroster vents. Forces more air through dash vents.

    I have tried the towel method and it works, but I would like to have the airflow out those vents. Just not blowing straight up on the windshield. I agree, the additional air should come out the dash vents in theory, but I don’t get the feeling that is what’s happening.

    I’m going to fabricate a “defelctor” next weekend and see if it works. Mainly take the “defrost” airflow and send it out toward the passenger (and driver) instead of straight up out of the dash. If I’m successful, I’ll post my solution.

    On pax side a friend rebuilt our stock vents with a flapper inside that can be adjusted w/knob to direct the air up, out, or the combination thereof(NO he won’t make any more, sorry:( .

    DS I stuff foam in each and carry a short piece of wire in case I need to remove them(only once in 8 yrs).

    Nice, good stuff thanks for the info. Any reason why Prevost design it this way?

    I believe that it was designed that way for certain weather conditions that can cause almost instant fogging of the windshield. It is most likely a safety thing for a bus driver. Geo
