  • dash recover

Posted by Marius on August 29, 2015 at 12:04 am

Our bus has the leather on the dash showing its age….driver upper panel the worse, right above the main gauges, right side discolored and faded.

I have a very good shop that would recover it in leather of my color choice but I have to bring them the dash components so that they can do the work. I want to do the driver left console, upper dash where all the instruments , gauges and switches (several panels) are, shelf to the right and passenger upper side of the dash.

Can somebody help with instructions and maybe anchor locations on the dash of a 98 XL series ? A digram would be wonderful, any help with instructions, where to start and what the tricks are would be fantastic.

    Many thanks in advance.

I considered the same…but after reading this blog, I opted to stick with the original color:

You find great info here (not my project..but it should give you an idea of the effort required):

I wonder if anyone else has gone into the dash to replace the existing lights with LEDs. I can barely see the gauge and dash lights even at night.

The newer style dash solved the problem with poor lighting. I ended up adding a red area light that shined on the XL dash so I could see the gauges at night

    Marius,

Have you started the dash project?

Not yet……bought the material, lined up the people that will do it and I will start as soon as I put the coach inside a heated building for over the winter storage.

This will be part of the several months interior upgrade that is planned for this winter.
