If I recall correctly, my coach has 2 lock relays AND 2 unlock relays plus the dash light relay. Sure you aren’t missing some?

I’m not sure if your vintage coach has the same type relays as my previous coach but I learned on mine that the octagon base relays in my last coach tended to not handle the load after a while and the resistance across the contacts prevented some of the bay doors to not lock or to not fully engage the lock.
They were relatively cheap so at the first sign of an issue I would just replace them.
That might be a good starting point unless the relays have been changed to relays more capable of handling the load of the door lock mechanism.

Jon,
I used a 24v relay I knew was working, a spare, and the problem persisted. I checked the ground going back to the fuse and it registered 24v. So the problem probably lies in one of the electrical harnesses in one of the bays.
But since all my doors are locking and unlocking, it’s simply easier removing the relay which only has that once function, to illuminate the dash light if your doors are locked or unlocked.

That makes sense. Some systems or features take far too much effort to fix or maintain than they are worth or there is time available to trouble shoot.

I hope this post gets updated with findings and solution. It sounds liked a common issue.

My system is 12 volt and uses the Ford electrics. I have achieved some success bt removing the lever and springs from each of the door locks which cause more resistance to operating with their “over-center” style. I also lube the deadbolts regularly and all works now. My next step, if necessary, may be to change the 12 volts to the actuators to 24 volts. I’m sure that will provide plenty of force…just not sure what it will do to the longevity of the actuators.

The H door and locking mechanism is totally different from the XL and XLII.
