  • Dash Air blowing HOT air!

Posted by Marshall on January 7, 2020 at 3:30 pm

The Dash Air on my new to me 2006 Royale is blowing really hot air. Fortunately, it’s been nice and didn’t need any air conditioner on recent trips.

The A/C compressor kicks on and runs when called for, but the air coming out of the dash registers is VERY hot.

I suspect I have a stuck or defective heater valve that is causing the issue. Can anyone point me toward where the heater valve (that controls coolant to the dash heat exchanger) is on the coach?

    Thanks

On my 97 Royale it was mounted up high under the drop down front bumper.

I would suggest check your Freon level.

Not sure where your valve is, but you may be on the right track. My 1989 had the valve mounted on the ceiling of the bumper compartment also and required power to close; default position was open. Mine had an in-line fuse in a plastic holder which broke.

Interesting…..I can’t check this until the weekend, but it gives me a start. I’ve had similar things happen on cars and the symptoms are the same…..heated, full hot air coming out of the ducts.

    Thanks.

Same thing happened to me, you can for now to test AC turn off flow of antifreeze in engine compartment the large gate valve turn off that should keep heat from coming out see if it gets cold, like they the heater valve should be under front bumper compartment.

My 1998 Prevost has a rocker switch on the lower right side of the dash next to the dash A/C switch that pumps hot water to the front heater for xtra warm air. With this switch turned on, my dash A/C is hot air. May not apply to your 2006 coach.
