    Dash Air belt failure

    The dash air on our 1999 H3 Detroit Series 60 isn’t working. We had the system recharged and serviced last year. After the service, the belt broke. We replaced the belt. The new belt broke as well leaving a melted rubber residue behind on the wheel that drives the belt. Is it possible for the compressor to seize causing the belt to stop and melt? Can the compressor be rebuilt or do we just buy a new one? Any good source for this part?

    Note: this is NOT OTR air – only dash air.

    Yes, ac compressors have pistons and oil and can and do seize. I had it happen on one of my daily drivers many yrs ago.
