  • Dash A/C Question

Posted by Ron on October 17, 2018 at 8:55 am

I’m getting a lo a/c pressure warning light about 70% of my drive time. I try to check threads about issues before I post questions and found several references to that possibly being normal (sometimes). I read the Prevost manual and it says the same thing.

So… I want to check pressures to make sure one way or the other but could someone please tell me where the connections are to hook up the gauges on my 08XLII? (Sometimes you just have to ask dumb questions).

Switches stick….So I’am told a common problem. Your system is not low or needs service.

Dial the A/C down with lowest temp. Use the fan / blower to adjust comfort.

Also advised passenger AUX air should be left on and used with dash air.

Going this method you’re a/c cycling should not be going on and off very often so you’re a/c light stays off.

When I had this issue my system was full and no freon was required. Then learned what most owners do.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks Al, I will do all that you’ve told me, but I’d still like to be certain the dash A/C is ok. I have the manifold gauges but I still need to find where to hook them up.

Ron… Unlikely if system was low it wouldn’t restart, based on prior known problem with switch.

Before I would put a manifold on system….Check discharged cold air measured in discharge air duct with A/C shaft dial gauge.

Ambient temp configured to discharge after 5-10 run time mins at dash.

When I got low pressure, switch was signaling a low Freon problem, turn off compressor for a little while, turn back on and same low pressure warning. It did cool until the low pressure switch turned off compressor. My York compressor is different than yours, but fittings are on top of compressor.
