CruiseAir Service Rapid City?
Does anyone know where I can get our Cruiseairs serviced near Rapid City? Heading East next week toward Michigan – Saint Ignace area. Have two units out of 4 not working well and it’s supposed to get hot.

Contact AAP to see if they can recommend someone. They are advertisers so the contact information is on the site.
But, because our coaches are viewed as RV’s a lot of qualified A/C folks do not want to touch them. Most of the issues with them are simple that any A/C technician can fix. Make sure the freon is charged and if that is OK start and run capacitors seem to be the next most common issues. If it is in the SMX AAP can walk you or the technician through the process of isolating the problem.

Jon is correct…I have 3 cruise airs and two have slow leaks…I have a household AC person who after I showed them where they are in the. coach and how to open the metal box, immediately realized they were just like household units. I just ordered 3 sets of 1/4 and 1/2 high low valves and he is going to replace next week. He said that the leaks probably are in the valves, but would not guarantee that. But its the place to start. After adding freon they work great.

A friend is on his second Ocean Alexander boat (first one was 48′, new one is 58′). The new one is based at Sturgeon Bay (WI) and has four Cruise-Airs. He says he uses Kinnard Heating & Air Conditioning and is happy with their service. I see the web site gives a “New Franken” address. New Franken is NNE of Green Bay on the way to Sturgeon Bay. If you can wait until you get to Wisconsin, give them a call. Let us know how it turns out.
Someone called Kinnards and they won’t work on a CA in a bus.

Keep in mind a bus CA is air cooled and a marine CA is water cooled. Somewhat different animals, but the refrigeration is refrigeration is refrigeration.

We contacted a local HVAC co. I was able to call AAP for advice for the tech. The units are easy to access on my coach. Unfortunately, after a $500 service, both units are “lo ps” again. At least they worked for a couple of days.
I had both units repaired at Silverleaf Coach in Phoenix and they worked for a few weeks after that. One of the units is an overhauled unit I recently purchased from AAP as a spare.
Silverleaf will open up the unit and make repairs. Robert at Easley Marine in Costa Mesa has also repaired our Cruiseairs.
I have an appointment with Marathon Coach in Coburg in July to swap one unit with a spare.
We originally were heading to Michigan so I contacted Kinards.Kinards does not feel comfortable working on a RV. We are heading for Salt Lake City next. Does anyone have an HVAC co recommendation in Salt Lake City? Maybe someone who has worked on our coaches before?
