CruiseAir controls upgrade ?
Hi all,
Looking into the possibility to upgrade the 3 knob analog CruiseAir control pads to SMX digital control. Has anybody undertaken this task ?
One thing I do not like about the analog control is that the units run continuously once truned on without shutting down when the target temperature is reached and restart when needed. The SMX does that and would be a nice upgrade. I have 3 CruiseAirs so would need to retrofit all 3.
A company called Micro-Air used to offer some FX-1 Digital retrofit kits for analog CruiseAirs and folks in the boating and yachts forums have used them with success but that was like 10 years ago…..can not find those parts anymore
Any suggestions from experts in these systems here ?

If i understand you do not like that only the compressor cuts out when the thermostat is satisfied but the blower/air handler runs continuously. It seems the engineers may have had reasons for setting them up this way. One may be that when the fans run continously the air in the coach keeps mixing and allows all of the units to work together and have more stable temps throughout the coach. Another may be to minimize potential high starting loads for the blower and the compressor. You may be able to acheive your objective with time delay relays that use the signal from the blower relay.
