Have a friend that is pretty high up in Dometic’s marine AC units division. He is aware of APP’s demise. He said Dometic is having a hard time getting parts for their new install units and probably would have no interest in trying to support a line (Cruiseair) that they sold off years ago.
Bummer for us

I posted on 11-16-21 and 10-13-21 about my install on my ’01 H3 Vantare non- slide and an ’01 H3 Vantare double slide. It’s easy to do and I’m “not sweatin my nuts off no mo!”

Once I get my coach back home, I am going to do some investigation into what, mini-split-wise, can be fit behind the front bumper (H3). It would be nice if a 2-3 ton condenser could fit in there without tearing the condenser unit apart, but I think I am mentally ready to do that, too, if needed. I am quite curious what is above the “box” that the cruisar condensers go in, as more height is essential to leave the mini-split condenser alone.
The big appeal to me for the mini-splits is the vast number of options, plus really good efficiency, plus hopefully good longevity. IMO, an inverter based system is going to be a lot less difficult to start, electrically, and probably going to last a lot longer than an “on/off” system.
There are hurdles other than the space for the condenser, however. Almost all of these mini-splits are 240v, and almost all of our coaches’ inverters are not 🙁 So, this may snowball into an inverter upgrade as well. Victron Quattro seems like the way to go, but I suppose adding (not replacing) a split-phase inverter, just for the mini-split (like 6kw, ~$1300) could be an option. Another option, at least before committing to all new inverter system like Victron, is only running the 240v mini-split on shore power or generator (our generators produce 240v split phase and not 2x120v same phase, right???).

AAP is gone?!
I still get a recording every time I call.
Good thing I checked the forum.
As for compressors, the suggested replacement is the 15k btu one, correct?
I heard that wanderlodge owners are swapping for ducted mini splits…might be worth a closer look…but I am not a member of their forum…
Ernie might be able to help, we is active in both groups.

I just read about a business called Aqua Air in Fort Lauderdale that makes a direct replacement for the Cruiseair compressor. I’ll be calling them the next time I have a problem!

I hope you read about it here! One of our members is responsible for them putting together an entire replacement unit as well.
