  • Cruisair capacitors and condenser fan motor

I need some guidance on the correct start capacitor for my Cruisairs. I am also looking for a Cruisair parts manual and/or schematic. I have one unit with bad capacitors and a bad condenser fan motor. I purchased new capacitors using the information I found here and elsewhere, the run capacitor is the same but the start capacitors installed in at least 2 units are 21-25uf 330 VAC instead of the 43-53uf 330 VAC that I purchased. Does anyone know why they would have 21-25 uf capacitors installed? The compressors appear to be original. I do not trust that any previous work on the units was done correctly. In addition to buying a new motor to replace the bad one. I will be buying a new one to replace the wrong fan motor installed in one of the other units… The original fan motor is 1625 rpm, someone installed a 1075 rpm motor. Not good! I am also looking for a source for the correct fan motors.

I just replaced a run capacitor this weekend. Compressor would actually still run even though the cap was completely dead. I was walking by the A/C panel in the RV and noticed it drawing more AMPs than normal. Otherwise I would not of caught it.

I just swapped out a compressor for the 5512 and installed two new capacitors (run and start) and have had no issues. Even moved the discharge resistor over.

My guess is that someone had no idea what to use or used something they had on the service truck.

I’d provide the compressor model / P/N here and that will help with the sizing of the correct capacitors.

I can not see the part number on the compressors, they all appear to be original, i do know that they have not been replaced with the 5512 compressor. So I am assuming that they are all original AKA8515EXA compressors. Where there any other compressors used?
