Crossover from POG
Hey all, just registered and wanted to say ‘hi’, I finially made the transition from POG.
I guess a brief introduction would be in order. My wife and I own an ’84 Marathon, that we live in full time on base in Panama City, Florida. My wife is active duty Navy, while I’m still unemployed. We’ve owned our coach for almost 4 years now, and is our first one. We don’t get to travel much yet, but plan to once my wife retires. Currently we are the guests at Coach Worx where we are getting some maintenance and updates does, while learning new things, meeting new people.

Welcome to the forum Yankee802! It was nice to visit with you and your wife at Tallahassee Flying J. Thanks for flagging me down. Glad you had a good trip to the Tampa area. I hope everything goes well for you there. Keep in touch!

Roger, you say “oldest” like it is a bad thing. Don’t be thinking that way. We’ve had an 87, 97 and soon a 2006. I can say with conviction every one of our coaches were completely enjoyed and while each newer one has had features not present in the older ones, the older ones had a lot of offsetting attributes that made them very pleasant to own.
As a gear head I really enjoy learning about the newer more complex systems and features, but one thing I know I will miss is the simplicity of the “vintage” coaches and the ease of servicing that comes with the earlier designs.
Nobody will ever convince me there is a sweeter sound than an 8V92. When we had a rally in Kerrville (the first one) I remember a bunch of guys standing around yakking when someone’s coach with an 8V92 pulled in. Every single one of us knew the sound and agreed it was the nicest sound of any coach made.

On our boat with a pair of 6V92’s there was also the unmistakeable sound of the 92 series DD’s.
Friends of ours also owned a similiar boat. Shortly after clearing harbor (dusk was the best ) you could listen for throttle increase with both engines, then with the engagement of the Glendinning engine sync both engines arrived at the sweet sound of 2- 6V92s matched perfect. The wet exhaust even enhances the sound.

Welcome, and good to see you again. I never got the chance to properly thank you again for your help under my bus in Kerrville. I gotta lose some weight if I’m ever going to get under there again!

haven’t seen ya since 2010 Kerville. Our 21 year old coach now has exactly 94,999 arriving home from Branson yestetday

Jim and Chris, you have to get out more. Our coach has more miles than yours.

Welcome aboard the PC Yank! The PC is a GREAT group of people very experienced and willing to help out. I live an hour and half from you. Spend my summers from Pensacola to Lanark Village catching up on some R&R and playing country music at any place that will let me! Retired from commercial/residential construction. Volunteer full time for my wife at her media center in a elementary school during the school year. Hope to see you around sometime!

well come on. Being fully gainfully self employed takes much of our time. However, we have put 35,000 miles on “Zorro” since Sept. 2009 when we brought it home . We aren’t traveling as much as a few years ago. The last coach we placed 66,000 miles in 5 years.
