cross member spacing(floor)
Liam ask about spacing under a patch in his floor. My computer burped and his subject vanished. The bus frame is below cross members that floor bolts unto. measurements start at stair well first one is 3 inches wide it is 11 inches center line to next # 2 – 3 – and 4 (all 2 inch wide cross members) then 5 1/2 center lline to # 5 big jump 13 5/8 to #6 .Between #s 5&6 there is a 30% angle about 30 inches long. The duct work from rear ends between ###2 and #3 in includes 3each 3inch pvc and 2 each 2 inch pvc ducts plus power steering lines heat copper lines ac lines plus everuthing else front to rear. Thickness is 2 sheets of poplar plywood with thin lead sheet between them 1 inch thick. This is on my 98XLE and was typical to my 89 XL.You could access the duct work end in future from face of what was orignal top landing(now partial covered in yours) hope this helps. Bob

I really appreciate all the great info. It really helps. Stupid question and too late now that my hardwood has arrived, but once I install my new floor, what bad thing could happen that would make me wish I could still access that removable panel?

Nothing you can’t work around! Really wish you would pull it up and take a look now that you have chance. power steering hose-air lines (bunch of them) wiring harness(many) coolant lines ac lines–etc.. If you work thru vertical (sp) back of landing /top step you can access most of them. or thru spare tire compartment/if it is not full of cruise air=then you have that answer?.. your soft place you could pull up the large area and reinforce under it with a piece wedged between bus frame and floor the thickness of cross member maybe a 1inch thick by 6inch wide by 10 inch long piece.. screw thu floor with 1 1/2 inch screws. I am actually going to pull it up as soon as I pick up torx bit to back the screws out. Will the edges be glued down?

I cannot think of anything that would require access through the floor. When I did my previous coach the only thing that would have made access easier would be a removable section above the floor slide, but I saw I could access each end of the floor slide cylinder without a panel so I did not leave provisions for one.
