Crestron——What am I missing
what is the big deal? I have a switch for everything Crestron does for me and usually the switch is handy to my location in the bus and the touch pad is not.

you prefer to use is actually part of the Crestron keypads commonly installed in and around the coach?
In that case it is one way or the other and it makes no difference.
If you do have real switches, then you are very lucky because you would still be able to switch things on or off, if the Crestron fails.

Ronald, are saying the Crestron system is not a stand alone but, is integrated into the Techlink?

I look at my Crestron as a single remote device programmed to interact with Techlink. On my vintage, Crestron only controls the AV and Blinds and works well after Jeff did his magic.
Like Larry, I have some manual switches and everything else has Techlink buttons. If I lost my Crestron, I can still operate all systems. Marathon did a good job of redundancy should Crestron fail.

Larry, I do not know anything about Techlink. Perhaps, Tom’s post will help you.
Vintage coaches do have a definitive advantage over newer ones. The newer coaches have all this technology built into them and you can not escape from it.

It is highly likely my views on technology for the sake of technology may be interpreted as being anti-Crestron or the like.
That is not true. I am against technology that is not more useful than the processes or devices it replaces.
When I have to go through 5 steps to open a sliding door between a kitchen and bath instead of pushing a single button then the technology is not only useless, it becomes a dumb alternative. But when a single Crestron touch pad (or iphone or ipad) allows the push of a button to select an audio or video source without the use of multiple remotes that becomes a huge improvement. The convenience of locking a front door from the bed, or starting a generator or webasto from bed because it was forgotten is a very good use of the technology and I do not want to be without that ability.
As a final step before driving the use of a Crestron to make sure all lights are off, the floor slide is in place the bays and doors are locked, is a real benefit.
But I want to see Crestron or similar systems or devices as supplemental to switches or controls independent of the Crestron. It is silly to have to walk into the living room to turn on a light over the kitchen counter when a switch on the wall right at the counter would make more sense.

Yes, Jeff updated mine to IPad and it works great. It’s a dedicated Ipad for Crestron and my Pressure Pro, I don’t use it for anything else.
