Crestron reboot?
Posted by tom on May 28, 2016 at 8:41 pmHad the salon TV on earlier, then shut it off, ran errands and wheni came back, i got a “comm wireless error” on the boat anchor remote. Am able to get sat. Picture but no sound.
Bedroom tv and small salon TV are fine. Thinking a reboot of crestron?
Or, is it possible the Marathon that pulled in next to use is causing wireles interference?
Thoughts? I may end up drinking a whole bottle of wine with this silent movie!

call Leon or anyone at Marathon coach they will walk you through the issues. Good luck -
yes could be another marathon with that vintage coach….you can try a reboot however most of audio is dc powered for operation. There is also a device that audio passes through have seen several issues with those

Update. We left Marathon and the coach next to us and everything works perfectly. So it must have been the bus that parked next to us.
-
That problem is not isolated to Marathon.
Deb and Terry have parked near us at the Lakeland events and we were messing with each other’s coaches without realizing it until Terry figured it out and gave me a heads up. We could turn on or turn off each other’s TV among other things.

im surprised that converters do not secure the crestron wireless so that only your coach is controlled by your controllers. As a programmer, im totally against anything being wide open and not secured.
Maybe when Jeff reprograms my crestron, we can apply a security layer. Jeff??

Early Crestron systems did not have that many codes available for the use of the remotes. You could both use your hard wired panels when parked next to someone else that was controlling your coach. However that was just a part of the times with the early systems….Technology change and we no longer worry about….

I cannot speak about other conversions, but I know Liberty said the FCC only allowed a limited number of frequencies. But to compound the problem I know on my coach each of the remotes are different and have different functions so I might in fact have to use one of the wireless remotes to do something, thus messing up someone else’s coach.

Once i figured out what it was and who it was, a thought crossed my mind to ask the guy to move to a different site or watch what we are watching! And stop playing with his shades! But i played nice, and just bitched inside our bus!

While this is a little off topic, I hope you find it as humerous as Bill & Tom playing with their neighbor’s shades.
I took my private pilot’s training at the Shawano (WI) airport back in 1970. Shawano is a small town of then about 5200 people adjacent to Shawano Lake (7 miles by 3 miles) with another then 4,500.
We spent much of the first few hours of dual instruciton doing touch and goes … going round and round the pattern with the pilot handling the radio. After a few T&G’s one day I noticed the pilot leaning over to look out the window as we turned base for Runway 11 which put us over an area of scattered houses in a rural area between the city and the lake . I asked him what he was looking at (it was too cold for any pool or sunbathing action to watch). He said, “The other day I noticed that when I key the mic close to the a certain house, the garage door would go up or down. So each time we come around and call the base leg the door does something.”
Once I got signed off to solo and felt pretty confident in the plane I was able watch that door go up and down as I called base. Downwind and final apparently didn’t impact the garage door. A couple of weeks later the pilot drove over to the house on a Saturday and talked to the homeowner. Apparently the homeowner never thought about planes impacting his garage door. Whatever was done ended the aircraft radio from controlling the garage door!

Yeah, it was the weirdest thing…. while at the No Rally, Rally, in Foley, AL, Jon and Di were parked across the water from us.
Just relaxing in our coach, I pushed the ‘rose petal’ button but nothing happened. I thought “are we out of rose petals”???, no way.
Well, I kept pushing the petal button and then looked out, Jon and Di were covered in rose petals! Jon had to turn on his windsheild wipers to look out! Sorry Jon and Di.

Di thought that was me being romantic and told me I was about to get lucky. Then she figured it out.
Damn!
