I know that generally a coach loses value if the converter has gone out of business. My question for those of you who own CC has there been an issue with servicing the “converter” portion of your coach regarding parts/appliances/systems, etc. other than the known unique instrument panel that is costly to repair or replace?

Also, I’ve noticed that CC’s sometimes have 3 Roof Airs, an extra compressor (besides the Prevost dash air), but no OTR. Has this been an issue if you’re running thru AZ in the summer?

Finally, any issues with HWH slides in the ’99 era?

No. Couldn’t make it on such short notice since I just found out about the NRR when I joined this forum the end of March.

T&C, just didn’t want to waste a lot of typing if you were going to be there. We loved our CC which was a non-slide side aisle coach…very liveable floor plan on a non-slide. CC are fairly simple and staightforward coaches, a step up from a Royale as far as bells and whistles go. Other than the Compu Dash there is little out of the normal as far as systems are concerned. Their OTR ac actually works very well (Marathon used a similar system) and we were never warm either in Fla or out west in triple digits. It may be considered an “orphan” but there is plenty of knowledge and support out the there and no problems getting repairs or service. Have HWH slide on our present bus and they have been trouble free plus it’s only about 9000 to re-seal instead of 3500 to 45000. Geo.

    C&G,

A very nosy question, why did you go from a 2000 CC to a 1999 Vantare? And why from an XLV to an H-3?

We have a ’98 CC. Although the original company went belly up, Ron Lee, one of the founders of CC bought the intellectual property and records out of the bankruptsy. He re-opened Country Coach in several of the original CC buildings with some of the original CC employees in Junction City, OR. They have been servicing all makes, and are set to roll out a new Country Coach “S&S” within the next year I believe. But obviously they have a depth of knowledge regarding CC builds (S&S as well as Prevost Conversions) that is tough to beat. We have been to their facility each of the last two years for minor things as we were passing through the area anyway, and feel they provide excellent service. I have had several questions about our coach along the way, and have gotten good info from them over the phone. “BoB” (the Big ol’ Bus) has been our home for the last several years, and we have no regrets over his purchase. He is an XL model without slides and “see ’em all” rivets. No slide leaks, drafts from poor slide seals, or delam issues. I like to try to keep things fairly simple…especially since I like to know how things work & be as self sufficient as possible. Not having a nice shop/bus barn is one of the few things I miss about the “sticks & bricks” homes we’ve had.

I cannot speak to your question re: HWH slides on Prevost chassis, but I can say that they treated us very well when we had slide & levelling issues with our Winnie Vectra 5 or so years ago. Good folks to deal with if you have a problem, IMO.

I will concurr with many of those commenting in your other threads: buying a coach can be more than a little overwhelming…you have the advantage of some really sage advice and insights here on PC. Use it for all it can provide. BTW…OR has no sales tax at present, so if you just happen to be passing through the State & need shoes for the new beast, or a Stressless chair… 😉

Enjoy the hunt…it only gets better!!!

    Thanks M&C,

It’s nice to know that you guys feel comfortable full-timing in BoB with no slides. Our preference is with slides, but as I’m discovering, the price goes up significantly with slides.

Never been to OR but I’m sure we’ll start to remedy that starting in Jan. ’16!

Like most on this site, I’ll try to locate that “right coach for us” for the best bank-for-the-buck.

T&C, not nosy at at all, we wanted slides and the XLII chassis. This particular bus kinda fell into our laps and was special enough that we had to have it. We zeroed it out and finished updating it. It was a one owner bus and very well maintained and cared for. At the risk of sounding like you know who, it could very well be our “last” bus ? Geo.

CC was prior to its dissolution one of the big converters. There are a lot of CC around. Like every other conversion they had their way of doing things and some of what they did was proprietary so all CC owners have had to get support from other places than the CC company that built the coach. So far, so good.

Miles Circo is a CC owner that bought the remaining inventory so owners can get parts (until he runs out), but even then all is not lost because some owners have had success at convertinng to new parts such as using a Sliverleaf dash.

I think CC has some of the best floor plans.

.My cc otr is controlled by 2 lighted push button switches (sun mullion I think is the type) on the bottom right hand dash panel. Each has 3 fan speeds and cycles through as pushed to each fan speed and back to off. There is no temperature control. Mine blows from under the bed and the galley counter. The compressor on the cc’s for the system in on the right side of the rear engine compartment .

CC over the road air should have two switches center panel right of driver…Bedroom and Livingroom 3 small led lights under the switch so it goes off speed 1 speed 2 speed 3 as you push the button..
