Country Coach water heater relay
My ’88 CC XL has 5 relays in the bay. 3 control the Cruisairs, 1 for the engine block heater and the last is for the electric water heater. The water heater relay is dead and I am looking for a replacement without much luck.
It’s a Ward Leonard and appears to be a model # WL199x-7 12V relay. I have found similar but 24V. Anyone have an idea what I need to do to replace this thing?

A relay is a relay is a relay. What you need is a relay with a coil of the correct voltage, and contacts that will allow the relay switching action you need. It must be properly rated for the current draw and type of duty cycle, such as continuous or intermittent.
When I seek parts the internet is my friend in the respect that I start by doing a google search for the manufacturer and part number. You may not get the same brand relay but some company may be offering a direct replacement.
Otherwise you have to search based on the criteria I listed above.

anybody else? Hoping to find a direct replacement so I don’t have to do any modifications.

Have you tried calling Ward Leonard Electric Company at 860-283-5801.
Ask for technical sales..tell them your problem. Looks like they are still in business.
Why not while your looking swap the engine block heater for the water heater. I would rather have hot water then an engine block heater.

Are you getting DC volts at relay to pull in contact , Jons correct a relay is a relay , it takes battery voltage from a switch. Then all it does is pull in contacts with a electro magnetic and connect 110v to the water heater or whatever else. It’s just a switch. Up grade to a new style relay , 1st thing check volts AC and DC

The relay works for about 1/2 second and then disconnects. I by-passed the relay so I have hot water but if I am on a 30 amp circuit I have to use the circuit breaker to keep usage down. I would just like to get back to being able to use the on/off switch on the dash.
I looked up Ward Leonard but never thought to call. Silly me. Thanks for the number, I will give them a jingle.
