Country Coach Dash Air Compressor
1999 Country Coach dash air conditioning compressor has locked up. Has anyone upgraded this system to a newer refrigerant?
Any experience with rebuilding the compressor vs buying a new one?
Any thoughts would be awesome … thanks.

The prior owner of my 92 CC had improperly upgraded the AC. As explained to me by the AC expert at Prevost in Montreal – the original hoses running through the coach to the evaporators are not compatible with the newer Freon. Gunks them up. To fix my system they had to replace all the hoses. Big job. Prevost also moved second condenser from under the front axle to back with the radiator. Said inches above hot asphalt was a stupid place for a condenser.
I would have preferred to keep the original setup and just deal with finding a supply of R-12.

My 98 Country has 134A refrigerant that works well. I assume your coach has 134A but you know what assuming does. The compressor is available from Prevost and other outlets for around $200 – $300. The clutch is available only from Prevost and is expensive +$600. Most shops quote 6-8 hours of labor to flush the system and install the hardware. Jeff from ETLC can correct me if I am off base here.

Yours is 134a and those 210L compressors are cheap, less than 200 bucks.

Liam, I am considering moving my condenser for my CC OTR air that is for the galley and bedroom. Would you mind sending a picture of your condensers’ new location? I am going through the replacement of all of my old R12 hoses and I don’t like the location of the condenser behind and above the front axle. Also considering moving to a roof mounted condenser.

As I remember, I only had one CC condenser and it was under the front axle. Montreal said that was a dumb location above the hot road. They moved it on top of the Prevost radiator so the fan would drive airflow.
