I have no idea what you are reading or using to get your info, but, according to the AWG chart it should be 4 ga copper for this application. Application is the key.

Yes your right 4 gauge is correct, I need 130 foot through my attic and through attic in garage and I want to put a Junction box In my garage then 30 foot to bus building. I need 130 of romex 3 wires and a ground, Is that called 4-3 ? then 30 foot of stranded to go through the conduit to bus. I wired this years ago 30 amp with a 30 amp plug and it doesn’t cut it, When I did this we had a camper and it was kept outside and a Foretravel and 2 Prevost later I want to do this the right way. My friend said I could use aluminum wire If done correctly he said it’s 1/4 of the price! But I think I will buy copper?? What do you guys think??

If you desire you can sue aluminum, the differences are cost, corrosion chances increase, especially in an outdoor installation,

You would need 2 ga aluminum to do it in copper. Now, think about related costs, larger conduit may be required, corrosion prevention goop. Some receptacles, etc are not rated for aluminum, be sure what you buy is if you choose to go alum.

For me, the material is but a part of the cost of the job. Labor, peace of mind, etc ned to be figured in as well.

Yes, copper is more expensive up front, but may be cheaper in the long run.

Your installation, your choice.

Thanks Mike! Since I do most of all the Labor I will spend the extra for copper, I got a good buddy that is a contractor so he can get it a little cheaper and I have a couple of Junction boxes to chose from solar job at house.
