Coolant Problem
My 1995 Country Coach has a 17.5 Power Tech (Kubota) generator. I noticed the coolant valve on the side of the engine was leaking so I drained the fluid and simply put a brass plug in instead of the drain cock. I drained the fluid from the side opening as well as the bottom of the radiator. I then put water back in to flush the system before putting anitfreeze back in. The problem is the engine is rapidly heating with no load and it will shut down (I assume the temperature cut off shuts it down). It seems that the coolant is not circulating. This has never been a problem prior to draining the coolant. I’m assuming I have an air lock problem, but I can’t find a solution. What should I try?

I had the same “airlock” problem when doing my gen bay renovation. I have 2 petcocks(see pic) in the thermostat area to get the air out. You may have to push the coolant with air pressure from the radiator towards the engine.

Thanks for the information. Even after opeing all of the valves, it would not work. I ended up taking an end off of the hoses on the top and directly adding coolant. Doing this and opening the air valves a few times enabled the coolant to circulate again. Problem solved. It seems that the thermostat, pump and top hoses are so high, they simply cannot get fluid to them just by putting the coolant in the radiator.
