  • Consignment Dealers

Posted by Marvin on February 3, 2020 at 6:03 pm

I understand that owners often have to use a consignment dealer or broker to sell a bus. But I am amazed at how many are really not working for their clients. I contacted one of the large southwest dealers. Spoke to him once. Sent him an email. He never responded. Another smaller broker answers me with 4 word emails. He too is not providing service to either the seller or the buyer. I would imagine that these brokers charge a 10% commission ( maybe more). They should learn to work for their money! Very frustrating. Marathon has been just the opposite. Answer all your questions. Provide more photos and seem to always get you a build sheet. Buyer and seller beware!

You should copy your post and email it to every seller of coaches.

I especially cringe when an owner lists his coach with an RV dealer who is clueless.

It’s tough when you complain about the sales entities, but don’t identify those that you consider not doing their job. If they’re Prevost Comminity advertisers, anytime this has happened in the past, they have stepped up and tried to correct any communication shortfalls. Sometimes the lack of attention is because of perceived email interpretation.

Jon and I will also do our best off site to help solve these problems if your uncomfortable with posting the details.

Would also help if you add a signature and open your email.

Sorry about the email. I did not see that option. It is ON now. The one broker is from Oregon and his name is Ted Lewis. I do not think he has a company name. The other really surprised me. It is the Premier Group in Arizona. I will be in Phoenix on Monday and planned on going to his facility. When dealing with a normal RV dealer they wont leave you alone! I am a retired business owner and I always followed up with my customers. I did not mention any names as in many forums it is against their rules to say anything negative about a dealer.

I’m speaking only for myself, not to be interpreted as what Tom would say or what PC policy is.

If you are unhappy with a coach seller you have the option of just walking away. But if you do not want to do that because you are serious about a coach the dealer is offering the burden is on you to first let the dealer know you expect better service or responses.

I say that because I am sure there are a lot of tire kickers with no intention of buying a coach, but want to get a tour, photos, or just the thrill of acting like they can buy one. If you are serious explain that as well as letting the dealer know what information you want.

If you have expressed your needs to the dealer and still feel the response you are getting is inadequate try again to make it known the response you want and expect.

Then if that fails I have no problem with a post that provides details about your dissatisfaction. We have had members post their complaints here and as long as they are justified and detailed we let the post stand, but we also communicate with the other party, provide them with a password if necessary and encourage them to respond.

But I am very much opposed to someone posting a complaint without details to support the complaint, or just making a post of a negative nature against anyone. A post saying a particular company is stupid is not going to remain, but a post saying a particular company is stupid because is valid.

We are sharing information and while we really like to praise companies that do a good job, but sometimes we have to share information about companies that do not do as well as they should.

    Mosieh,

Understand your frustration and not familiar with the Oregon guy, but have heard of Premier and they’re not an advertiser, so no history of service.

Suggest you contact our two Advertisers Premium Coach in Gilbert and Arizona Luxury Coach right in Phoenix.

I bought my Prevost from Steve Bennett, founder of Arizona Luxury Coach, in 2016 and I will say that he went out of his way to make sure I received all the information I desired. Very thorough in his explanation of the operation and systems and provided a detailed service history. I would go back to Steve and would recommend that others give him a try.

    Good luck on your search,

    Doug

Moisheh… You may or may not be aware, but “most” RV insurance policies do not provide coverage while your coach is in the possession of a consignment dealer. It used to be that you’d need a rider or some additional form of coverage. May have changed, but I’ve not heard it.
