  • Compression fittings sealing

Does anyone ever use any non Harding sealers on the air system compression fittings, not on the NPT on the brass Farrell part?

On compression fittings that just would not seal, out of desperation I have slobbered the ferrule with pipe dope which is not the smartest thing to do although it will stop the fitting from blowing soap bubbles most of the time.

Now that I have started using Swagelok compression fittings they seal 100% of the time due to their unique ferrule.

Keelhauling was the punishment for anyone using Teflon tape or pipe dope on air systems in the nuclear Navy.

One tiny spec of contaminate in a control air system is a problem.
