  • Compression Fittings Installation Question

Posted by Jeff on February 16, 2020 at 9:17 pm

Soon to install compression fittings on a new Norgren and would like to know how to properly tighten them. Is it accurate that each compression fitting nut only needs to be tightened one half of a revolution? Thank you also for any tips!

I think 1/2 turn past hand tight may be the correct spec but you likely have enough dirt and grime on the lines that getting them to all be free turning by hand will be unlikely. Wipe the ends of the airlines down before you install the nut and ferrule will help.

Just use some soapy water and bubble check them after you put pressure on the lines again. I’ve had to tighten some a lot.

Can vary based on fitting size. Use the manufacturer’s spec.
